Registration Inclusions & Timeline
Registration rates do not include AAA membership dues, food, hotel, or travel costs associated with attending the Annual Meeting.
There will be no printed program this year. A virtual platform will be available with all information related to the in-person and virtual components of the meeting.
- Tier 1: Early-Bird Registration (April 30-June 30, 2021)
- Tier 2: Advance Registration (July 1-November 14, 2021)
- Tier 3: Standard Registration (In-Person: November 15-November 21; Virtual: November 15-December 31, 2021)
Annual Meeting Proposal Eligibility
AAA membership and registration for the Annual Meeting is not required for anyone wishing to submit a proposal. Participants, if selected for the program, will be required to register for the meeting by Friday, October 15, 2021, and become a AAA member in order to participate.
Should a participant plan to join and present as part the program and not wish to join the AAA, they will need to request a Guest Presenter (Nonmember) Registration Rate, formerly known as a Member Exemption by Friday, April 30, 2021.
Membership
Members: Discounted registration rates are a member benefit, and you must be an active AAA member at the time of registration to receive the discount. To check your membership status, log into Anthro Gateway. You can join AAA online . Check out our updated membership dues page for more information.
Non-members: Non-anthropologists and anthropologists from outside of the US or Canada are encouraged to join AAA to receive the member discount and other benefits. If they do not wish to join AAA, they may request a Guest Presenter (Nonmember) Registration Rate by Friday, April 30, 2021, if they intend to participate on the Annual Meeting program by submitting a proposal. If granted this rate, participants are exempt from the requirement to join the AAA, but then must pay nonmember Registration rates for the meeting. For nonmembers who do not wish to join AAA or submit a proposal, nonmember pricing will be available beginning Thursday, May 6.

Place-based registration, for attendees who wish to join us in Baltimore, will include access to all meeting sessions, events, and activities in Baltimore, as well as access to our virtual meeting platform (live streamed virtual events, attendee networking & engagement, virtual exhibits, and the asynchronous on-demand content library).
These rates are applicable to everyone who plans to participate in in-person events (i.e., oral presentation sessions, roundtables/town halls, conversations or debates, interviews, individually volunteered papers, in-person posters, and flash presentation sessions) or attend the meeting by joining us in Baltimore, MD.

Weekend Registration Rates
Weekend rates are available regardless of AAA membership or student status. Registrants under this category will have access to the Annual Meeting for Saturday and Sunday (both in-person and virtual sessions). This rate must be purchased onsite and cannot be requested/secured prior to Saturday, November 20.

Student Saturday Rate
Students may attend in-person on Saturday for a significantly discounted rate. Students under this category will have access to the Annual Meeting for Saturday only, and will not include access to the virtual program. This rate must be purchased onsite cannot be requested/secured prior to Saturday, November 20.

In-Person Guest Registration Passes
Guest Registration is available to friends and family of presenters who are not part of the anthropology community. These passes are designed to allow guests to attend one session and are an excellent option for family members and friends who are interested in attending a presenter’s panel or event.
Guest registration passes must be purchased with a credit card. Passes are sold in 1/2 day increments (AM or PM). The pass must be returned to the registration desk after their time period has expired, or the credit card on file will be charged the remaining balance of an onsite non-member registration ($495 of the total $520).
Eligibility:
- For non-anthropologists
- Only onsite
- Only for one (1) ½ day increment
- AM pass: covers 8 am-12 pm
- PM pass: covers 12pm-6 pm

Virtual Registration Rates

Virtual-only registration will include access to our virtual meeting platform including live streamed virtual events, select events from Baltimore live streamed to the platform, attendee networking & engagement, virtual exhibits, and the asynchronous view-on-demand content library.
These rates are applicable to everyone who plans to participate in virtual events (roundtables/town halls, conversations or debates, interviews, podcasts, virtual posters, talks, and three-minute thesis competitions) or attend the meeting virtually, without attending the meeting in-person in Baltimore.
Note: You will not receive an in-person registration badge through this rate. If you show up in-person to Baltimore, you will need to pay the difference between the rate you paid for your virtual registration and the current onsite registration price of your membership category.

Single-Day Virtual Pass
The single-day virtual pass is available for anyone who only wishes to engage with the virtual platform content for any particular day. To effectively support single-day attendees’ participation, single-day virtual passes must be purchased by midnight the day before your chosen day and will not be available for purchase on the day of. For example, if you wish to purchase a pass for Thursday, November 19, then you must purchase the pass by Wednesday, November 18.

Classroom Bundle Pack
Want your students to access more awesome anthropological content? Purchase a Classroom Bundle Pack!
Bundled packages of 10 discounted registrations (1 teacher/instructor and 9 students) are available for purchase. Each package will include a registration for the instructor as well as 9 additional registrations for students, and can be utilized for classrooms in higher education and K-12 contexts. Up to 10 additional students can be added at a rate of $35 per student. Additional teachers/instructors cannot be added at this rate.

The Classroom Bundle Request Form is open!
Following the submission of the form, the Membership Department will reach out to you and invoice you for the total. Once payment is received, the main contact on the form will receive a unique code to enable each registrant to create an account and to self-register for the Annual Meeting. Once the students have self-registered, they will receive a registration confirmation email.

Financial Assistance
Learn more about financial assistance and support available for the Annual Meeting.
Support Hardship Registration Funds!
We understand that many have been financially impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. We have been heartened by the support of our community at various opportunities when members have given to a fund to benefit one another during these difficult times. As an add-on option to your registration this year, you will be able to donate to the Hardship Registration Fund in the amounts of $10, $25, $50, or $100. All donated funds will be used to pay registration rates for students and members who are in need of financial assistance to attend the meeting.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
Meeting Presenters/Participants
The registration fee is your commitment to presenting at the AAA Annual Meeting.
- If your proposal is accepted into the program, the registration fee is non-refundable. Under no circumstance will accepted presenters be eligible for a registration refund.
- If your proposal is not accepted, your registration fee is refundable as long as you submit your request in writing using the below Refund Request Form on or before October 22.
Meeting Attendees (Non-Presenters)
- All requests for refunds or cancellations must be made in writing using the below Refund Request Form.
- Between April 26 and October 22, a written refund request will be subject to a $25 cancellation fee.
All Registrants
- Under no circumstances will AAA issues refunds for no-shows.
- Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.
- No refunds will be granted for requests received after Friday, October 22, 2021.
