Annual Meeting Hardship Registration Waiver Program
As we recognize the effects of the pandemic have impacted each of us differently and personally, we are launching our Hardship Registration Waiver Program. Registrants for the Annual Meeting will have the ability to add funds (at the level of their choosing) to their Annual Meeting registration, contributing to a pool of financial resources to cover fellow members’ registration expenses. The AAA will seed this pool of funds and hopes the community will support this initiative if/where they are able.
The request form for Hardship Registration Waivers is open and available to all members of the AAA. You must be a member to apply for this program. Applications will be evaluated by members of the Executive Programming Committee, and applicants will be awarded waivers based on need.
Deadline: Monday, September 20, 2021, at 11:59 pm ET
Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications beginning on October 1, 2021, and then continually on a rolling basis if/when further funding comes in from the community through the registration add-on process.

Sponsor an Anthro Program
Do you have the ability and desire to pay for someone you know to attend the meeting? Perhaps you have remaining funds available in a research grant or department budget. Perhaps you would like to pay-it-forward to your community personally. New this year, we are offering the opportunity for a Sponsor to pay for the AAA membership and Annual Meeting registration, or just the Annual Meeting registration, for a fellow member of the anthropology community.
You may identify the Sponsee you wish to support – a colleague, a student, a friend. Or you may indicate in your application that you would like your sponsorship applied to someone in need, and we will identify that individual for you.
Review the rates for gifting membership can be found here and the Annual Meeting Registration rates. You will be asked in your application what you’re willing to sponsor. You will be contacted by a member of the meetings team to complete the transaction as you indicate on your form.

Student Volunteer Opportunity – Registration Reimbursement
Graduate students may apply to volunteer at the Annual Meeting to have their registration fees reimbursed.
The 2021 AAA Annual Meeting Call for Student Volunteers is open! Learn more about volunteering at the annual meeting, its application process, expectations, and role.
Not everyone who applies will be accepted. Students to present at the Annual Meeting must still be registered (and AAA members) in order to remain on submissions if selected for the program.
New! Undergraduate Cohort Program
Want another way to bring your undergraduate students to the AAA Annual Meeting? Consider the newly developed Undergraduate Cohort Program! This is an exclusive opportunity for DSP partners to sponsor a fall and spring class of undergraduates for a one-year AAA + NASA (National Association of Student Anthropologist) section membership and AAA Annual Meeting registration.
Visit the Undergraduate Cohort Program page to learn more about the program’s schedule, deadlines, and eligibility requirements, and to submit your application today!
Please note that the Undergraduate Cohort Program is a Department Services Program (DSP) benefit. Check your DSP status. If you are not currently a DSP partner, join or renew today!
